A day-by-day programme with accommodation and a clear price in euros. Put together by someone who knows the parks first-hand.

Fine-tune and book
We adjust until it is right. Then you book with a 20% deposit and GGTO guarantee. We stay reachable during your trip.

Tanzania is worth it all year round, but every month has its own highlight.
January: calving season in the southern Serengeti
Thousands of wildebeest calves are born on the plains around Ndutu. Predators are active and easy to spot. Warm, with the occasional shower.
February: the peak of the calving season
Most calves are born in February. A good chance of hunting scenes. One of the best months for photographers.
March: last calving month, quieter parks
Still plenty of young animals and fewer visitors. The long rains start at the end of March; green landscapes, lower prices.
April: green season, lowest prices
Showers, often in the afternoon. Few visitors, green plains and low-season rates. Zanzibar gets the most rain in April and May.
May: end of the rains, the migration gets going
The herds start moving north through the western part of the Serengeti. From late May the weather clears up.
June: start of the dry season
Cooler, dry days and good wildlife viewing. In the western Serengeti you may catch the migration at the Grumeti River.
July: the migration reaches the Mara
From July the wildebeest cross the Mara River in the northern Serengeti. High season, so book in time.
August: Mara River crossings
Dry weather, lots of wildlife around the water sources and a good chance of the famous river crossings.
September: still crossings, a little quieter
The herds move back and forth across the Mara. Tarangire is at its best with huge elephant herds along the river.
October: end of the dry season
The last crossings at the Mara, then the herds start moving south. Less busy than in summer.
November: the herds head south
Short rains turn the plains green again. The wildebeest move through the central Serengeti towards the south.
December: back in the south
The herds reach the southern plains and the first calves are born. Popular around the holidays, Zanzibar too.
